PTI Make It Monday #72: Step It Up - Embellishments

Hello! This weeks PTI MIM challenge was brought by Dawn to step up the embellishments! Making your own embellishments for your projects with die cuts, ect and how to step-it-up from simple to super fabulous! :)
I choose which cuts & stamps I wanted to play with and than made 3 identical card bases and half & half strips before embellishing each with a more involved embellishment from simple to most embellished.

On the first card, I kept everything simple & flat.
On my middle card, I added a little dimension by popping up the bird, birdbath & bird house.
On the last version I made a larger impact with a the large doily stamped in red behind the other cuts. I popped up the mat stack over that and the fence & birdhouse on the top layer.

It can be a lot of fun to play around with this whether you're a crafter who piles it on or keeps it simple! Either way, it helps you to get out of your comfort zone & play on the other side!

DCWV June Stack-a-holic Template Challenge

Here is the June DCWV sketch for the Stack-a-holic Challenge! Great, fun sketch with lots of posibilities! I stuck pretty closely to the sketch, just changing a bit to fit my photos. For all the circle embelishments, I cut elements out of the paper to pop up on my page.

I used the Cotton Bloom stack, which has lots of great glittered papers perfect for a fun (little) girl's night out page! :)

PTI June Blog Hop!

This month's PTI Blog Hop is to simply be inspired by the following photo:
Well, I had to play with the new stamp set that came with my Stamp-a-Faire bag! It's such a fun floral set to play with, you can really get a lot of different looks depending on the stamps & color combos you use. For this card, I chose to stick to two colors for stamping: Harvest Gold & New Leaf.

I'm really loving this card! It was super fun & I love all the elements inspired by the photo. I used 2 different ribbons inspired by the fabric element, one for the New Leaf border and the bitty dot to roll for a handmade flower. I was also inspired by the ruffles, so I created that effect by layering the two different bottom edges and curling the ends up a bit so the look like layers of ruffle.
To finish off the flower, I broke two sewing pins and stuck them through the button holes into the foam dot underneath. I stamped the sentiment & placed the flower on the pointed Half & Half die that an extremely sweet fellow PTI fan offered to me when she got dies in her SAF bag & already had them- THANK YOU! As you can see, I couldn't wait to use it! :)

Thanks for stoppin everyone & have fun hoppin!

Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge: PB&J

Hello! This weeks Paper Smooches Sparks challenge was a color challenge: PB&J! Basically, red, light purple, yellow & cream.
I just got my new Paper Smooches stamps for July this week (LOVE the stamp club=early playtime!).
I knew exactly what I wanted to do!

I won't share anymore info on the stamps other than this sneak peak since they will be released in a week! :) BUT- they are all fab!
I used wood patterned paper (MME) to put along the bottom for hard wood flooring & the super cool red vacuum is chasing three dust bunnies! LOVE!
Now, I think anyone having a crummy day would get a giggle out of receiving this card, don't you?

PTI Make It Monday #71: Bordered Sentiments

PTI's Make It Monday #71: Bordered Sentiments challenge was to use masking to keep a space clear for your card's sentiment. I knew the stamps & colors I wanted to do right away! When taking out my ink colors, I noticed that I had Mister Huey's mists in exactly the same colors! With a fun bright animal card like this, some paint splatters are the perfect addition... I think!

I absolutely love the effect here! It's so fun and bright and perfect for my youngest's 7th birthday coming in just 2 weeks! I can't believe he's going to be 7! He will totally love this!
To get the paint splatters, I just took the sprayers off the paints, wiped them off a bit against the inside top of the bottle (like with nail polish when doing your nails), than flicked the paint off the hollow tube part by pushing it off the top of the bottle.
Thanks for stopping! I'm really loving everyone's projects!

Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge, take 2!

Display our button

Ok, as I was putting away my things from my last card I saw these great black/cream hexagon stickers from Jenni Bowlin & had to do another card! I mean, you don't need colors to use lots of pattern, right!?

Love it! And sooo quick!

Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge: Prints are Charming

Display our button

This weeks Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge is a trend watch challenge: Prints are Charming.
Prints, prints, prints!!! They are everywhere! From tons of great patterned papers, to making your own with background stamps. Chevron, stripes, dots...anything goes!

For my take on this challenge I had a great idea for a card to give my daughter after her dance recital tonight. I always get her a little gift and make her a card for her hard work all year. This year is especially special because she earns her 5 year pin at dance!
Shelby is super into all the cool patterned nail transfers that are out now to have animal print, halloween, polka dot, ect nails. I thought, well, I can do the same thing with patterned papers and Kim's great stamps!

I love how it turned out and I know Shelby will get a great kick out of it!
Thanks for stopping!

PTI Monday Challenge!

This weeks Papertrey MIM challenge is to use some inspiration items, turned into sketches, for your design. There are several to choose from so I'm hoping to do more of them as the week goes on.
For now, I choose this one:
For Nicole's card, she did a folded effect that I definately want to do as well, but first I had to do a card using the first thing that came into my mind after seeing this, a starburst.

I used 2 yellow patterned papers to make first a triangle, than a starburst pattern. For the image panel I stamped images from "On the Farm". I stamped the grass/hills twice to fill up more space (in Simply Chartruese & Ripe Avacado), than stamped the checkered border in Pure Poppy along the bottom. The farm was stamped in black and the cow in Dark Chocolate.

The sentiment was stamped in Dark chocolate after stamping the checkered border again in Lemon Tart. The small circle from On the Farm was stamped on a die cut using the Ad Sence dies, than two small strips of denim ribbon were added.
Thanks for stopping!
