This month, we had a challenge at Pez-A-Doodle to do a faux granite technique using alcohol inks. The first part was to choose a granite sample as inspiration. I choose this:
Beautiful blues and silver. The technique is to take similar colors of alcohol inks along with a metal mixative (silver in this case) to create a faux granite to use as "tile" on a project.
First, begin by putting all your choosen colors (including metallic) onto the felt of your applicator tool. Dab all over glossy cardstock until you get the color you want. Next put blending solution onto same felt and dab all over the cardstock again to blend the colors.
After you've completed all your paper, cut or punch into squares and use on your project! I had a lot of fun with this and really went all out just creating a project just for me. Here's my "granite" paper:
And my finished mirror:
After making my faux granite, the project in my head totally changed (often happens!). It reminded me of summer and the water of the lakes, rivers and ocean and I wanted to use it to bring all those elements together.
I used rope along edge of mirror. The hearts and H2O are TH grungeboard painted with TH crackle paints. I used the same rope to tie that adorable metal fishy to a TH fragment charm that I colored with the same alcohol inks. I added decorative baubles around the outside and small shells as accents.
The only thing I had to purchase for this project was the mirror, which was $1.99 at Michaels! You can really have a lot of fun using this technique with some great Tim Holtz products and stuff you have around your house. Here's some closeups of my mirror and links to the products used.

Fun with Alcohol Inks!
OK, sorry for the delay, but I'm back with pics of how to do the fun technique I used on my card yesterday with Alcohol Inks. First you need a few different colors of Alcohol Inks, glossy cardstock (Ranger is best) and a can of air (like for cleaning your keyboard), you can purchase that just about anywhere including Walmart, Target & office stores.
For my samples, I cut the cardstock into standard A2 size.
For my samples, I cut the cardstock into standard A2 size.
First, pick out your alcohol ink colors and put your paper on napkins or a wipe-off craft mat.
Put a drop of your first color onto the paper and spray from above or side with canned air.
Continue with other colors until you achieve the look you want.
This is my finished piece, ready for another project! I just love the new brights alcohol inks for this effect because their color is so intense. I think this paper has kind of a "groovy" feel with the neon colors! I'll share my finished project as soon as I use this, in the mean time, I'll have another alcohol ink technique up tomarrow with a great finished project (a home project, not a card). Very fun!
Thanks for stoppin!

Well, I have a daughter home early with the stomach flu, so I'm going to post my finished project with a little description for now. After she is in bed tonight, I will come back on and post step-by-step pictures of the technique I used with the alcohol inks. Thanks for waiting for that! :)

For the paper I made using alcohol inks, I used Ranger glossy paper, alcohol inks (just drop on one dot at a time) and a can of air sprayer. All the alcohol inks are from the new brights line and those as well as the glossy cardstock are available at Pez-A-Doodle. I used the hinged card technique challenge from SCS this Monday as well. Unity Stamps.
Thanks for stopping, please stop back later or tomarrow to see the step by step of this fun alcohol ink technique.

Papertrey Ink May Blog Hop!!!
Tonight is the Papertrey Ink May blog hop! So much fun to see everyone's creations! There's a simple card I have in mind I'm going to try to complete soon that fits this months challenge as well, but for now, this is the challenge and my take on it!
May Blog Hop
Spring and summer tend to be the most colorful out of the four seasons. One color in particular that evokes the warmer weather is yellow!!! Your challenge this month is to use this trendsetting color to the best of it's potential! You can use it in small pieces as an accent or as the main color. Experiment & play, discovering new color combos that perhaps you hadn't thought of before. No matter what, just have fun and enjoy the feeling of happiness that this cheerful color evokes
So for my project I worked on a goodie box for my son's 2 bus drivers as an end of the year gift. I used the new lunchbox template from Lauren as my base.
I used punches for the windows and wheels and used scor-tape to put acetate behind the window openings. I used my label-maker to put the school listing on the side of the bus.
This is my first attempt, so I'm thinking of ways to fancy it up even more, I'm thinking i'll probably do some work with some background PTI stamp sets for my next attempt. I'm thinking i'll also add black circles to the front of the bus with large round clear gems to simulate headlights.
Thanks for stopping!

More Alcohol Fun! :)
Ok, it's alcohol inks...not actual alcohol :) Soooo much fun to play with, I decided to do another version of an inked tin today. Sorry for the lack of posting this week, I've had several technical difficulties! Anyway, I wanted to show another version of a tin with alcohol inks, silver & blending solution.
This time I used a white tin which gives a totally different look right from the start. A white background makes the colors of the inks even more brilliant and adds some "white space" to any parts you don't cover with the inks.
First, using the ink tool & felt, I added 5 colors of alcohol inks in 2 tiny dots per color to the felt. Dab all over tin, leaving a little white space. Then, add 2-3 dots of the silver mixitive to the felt and dab all over tin again. Lastly, squirt some blending solution onto your felt pad and go over tin again until the inks are blended to your liking.
If you have all of your inks ready to go, this whole tin takes less than 5 minutes! The alcohol inks dry pretty much instantly, so it's a very quick way to make a beautiful impact!
Of course you can get all the great alcohol ink products to complete these tins right at Pez-A-Doodle by clicking on the banner to the right! She's got tons of great new Tim Holtz stuff including new alcohol ink colors (LOTS of them!), new alcohol ink pens & fun accents!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Unity KOTM Blog Hop!!!
It's finally here! The Unity Kit Of The Month Blog Hop! 100 blogs all full of Unity goodness using their fabulous monthly kits! If you didn't get here from the fabulous Sherry, than start from the beginning and view the entire Unity kotm blog hop by starting at http://theunitystampco.blogspot.com.
The blog hop officially starts at 11am (central time) and the posts will stay up through the weekend.
OK, onto the goodies! I decided to combine my project with my PDD post for today and an SCS challenge this week to use a tin. First I used Tim Holtz alcohol inks on a cute little tin. I did not use any blending solution, because I wanted both the colors to keep their vibrancy and stay a little separate, not really blend together. Basically, I wanted to get a real bold look. Than, using black Stazon, I stamped that adorable butterfly from THIS Unity KOTM and the great "Enjoy your day!" sentiment from THIS month's Unity kotm! Than added a little bling of course! :)
Now head on over to the adorable Shaunna and see two fabulous cards from her (one uses one of my fav KOTM stamps- the trailer! And it's too cute!)
Thanks for hoppin' by..... now hip-hop along! :)

PDD, Studio G & CPS Sketch Mix!
Hello everyone! It's a crazy busy week here. Today it's my oldest son Logan's Birthday! He's 12 today, I can't believe it! He goes to Jr.High next year and is on his way to teen-ager! I'm so proud of him and love him sooo much! He's a true one of a kind!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOGAN!
Ok, moving on :) I decided to play with my series 30 Studio G stamps from Pez-A-Doodle this week. For today's card, I used this weeks CPS sketch:
Those adorable rockets are both from the series 30 Studio G 4th of July stamps as well as the "celebrate" sentiment. I stamped onto card front and colored with copics, than stamped the bigger rocket onto cardstock, colored, cut and popped up on foam squares.
That fab silver star tape is from We R Memory keepers (their sports line). Love it!
We may want to hop around to the other Pezzy girls today for more crafty goodness! And go check out the fun Studio G group with us on Paper Craft Planet! Use those cute little collectible stamps!

Queen Kat Designs & Mojo Monday Sketch
I just love sketches! They can provide so much inspiration and sometimes you just see one and know exactly what you want to do. Well, that was definitely the case with this weeks Mojo Monday sketch. I just love this dragon from last months QKD release so much! I bought the castle from QKD to go along with the dragon and I'm so glad I did because it worked out perfectly for this card!
Here's this weeks sketch:
And here's my version:
Rather than having the dragon cut in a square and mounted, I choose to cut him out and pop up on foam dots.
The adorable paper and large brad are from Imaginence.
Make sure you check back tomarrow for a CUTE Pez-A-Doodle card using one of the new releases as well as the Queen Kat Design New Release blog hop!

Pez-A-Doodle Friday & SALE!!!
Hello! Well, due to technical difficulties (aka- the tunneling next to my house knocked out my internet Wed!) I'm going to share my project I would have posted Wed. :) I've been holding onto this, waiting till after all the new releases. I LOVE playing with the Tim Holtz fragments, so much you can do with them and here's one way to play:
A cute little monogram notebook! This is sooo easy to do and those fragments are great for scrapbooking & cards as well. All you do is cover the fragments with glossy accents and stick it to the paper of your choice. Than just let dry and cut right around it. Use glossy accents again to adhere to your project. I used a black chipboard "K" for my monogram and covered with black stickles. These are so much fun to play with and you can use any paper, pictures or stamps to customize them for your project. There's links to the products I used below.
Now a fabulous SALE announcement straight from Marti:
