PTI July Blog Hop!

Yay! Time for the PTI July blog hop! I had so much fun this weekend at Stamp-a-Faire I was excited to work on another project for the blog hop. I have a few other ideas for this challenge, so I may play more than once, but here is my first interpretation:

I used Claudine Hellmuth Studio sticky-back canvas in natural to stamp my front panel on. I love how you get that subtle canvas texture under the stamping! Plus, the back is covered in adhesive so it's ready to attach!
I just love the dress on the girl in this picture, the great pattern covered in flowers, so I wanted to use fabric and cover it using the inspiration colors with an all over floral pattern. I used the SAF Natural Beauties set for the entire background. I than wrapped some dot Simply Charmeause ribbon around and stuck it to the sticky canvas before attaching to the card front.
I die cut and stamped a tag from Tiny Tags in Melon Berry and tied it with twine as well as one of those great coconut shell buttons!
The background is so beautiful, I didn't want to cover too much of it up, so I love just the tiny tag on the front! And the "love you" sentiment works great with the little heart cut out tag.

Thanks for stopping- can't wait to check out everyone's projects today!

Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge: Card 2

Back again with my 2nd card for this weeks sparks challenge! (See previous post for the 1st)
I wanted to do 1 card that was a pretty literally take on the inspiration photo & wanted to use a new floral set from Paper Smooches for August.
Luckily, I received it today & got to do it already! Perfect set to do this card!

I stamped the middle flower in New Leaf & the sides in Blueberry Sky. The shading on the kraft was done with Tea dye & Weathered Wood distress pads. I just used a black Distress marker to draw the stems.

Thanks for stoppin back!

Paper Smooches Sparks: Picture Perfect Challenge

Today starts a new challenge over at the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge blog!
This weeks challenge is Picture Perfect and here's the pic:

I had a few ideas for this right away! I sure got lucky today, because before I started to work on this I checked my mail and had my Paper Smooches August stamps! Yay!!!!

I immediately had to use a new Halloween image (love Halloween!) with this photo as inspiration!

I used aTea Dye distress inkpad for the edges, than cut my panel into 3. The pumpkins are stamped on white, colored with copics & cut out, than popped up with foam tape.
For the banner, I wanted to have "eek" the darkest under the scary looking pumpkin, so I stamped it there full strength, than stamped 2 more times on each side for the faded effect.

Thanks for stopping!

PTI SAF Tie-Dye Challenge...last one!

And here's another card using the same tray of shaving cream/inks as the last:

I love how even using the same tray to do a few pieces of paper, they always look different!
For this card and the last post, I just swirled all around the tray, than did lines vertically & horizontally through it before placing my papers down.

PTI SAF Tie-Dye Challenge...again!

I just loved the shaving cream technique for tie-dye so much after doing 2 different color combos! When looking through others pics on the links I saw a beautiful background created by Tracey (go check it out!) that used lots of colors for a super bright brilliant background!
Can't wait to get some PTI refills so I can use their gorgeous colors & do it again!
In the meantime, I used 4 different Distress inks refills to do this:

PTI SAF Friendship Bracelet Take 2!

Good Morning!
I wanted to do another bracelet using my paper beads that was a little more earthy.
The first bracelet I did on Saturday turned out great using the beads along with some crystal beads & beading wire. This time I wanted to do one a little more rustic with some hemp twine and gorgeous green stone beads as well as some silver beads.

I was originally going to do the pattern all the way across the whole bracelet, but I decided that instead I wanted some of the twine to be showing on the sides so I just ended at doing the pattern twice.
Love the "campy" rustic charm of this! :)

My final Tie Dye Card!

Since the shaving cream technique looked sooo cool- I wanted to try it with another ink I had: Alcohol inks. There's so many great colors of these I have so I had to give it a shot!
It does work, but because the ink dries so fast, you need to work fast and it's a lot more of a subtle look.
You'll notice that even with quite a few drops of ink, a lot of white will show.

Still- super cool & still love it! I used Smokey Shadow stamped off once first for the sentiment to keep it soft.

Tie Dye #3

This technique I liked a lot once I got it right! This is just using your ink pads with a sponge and a brush with water.

Love the slightly blurry look of the circles! I used Dark Chocolate for the card base and sentiment.

Tie Dye #2

Here is my card using copics & rubbing alcohol:

This technique is very easy (as long as you have copics), but it's a little too subtle for me. I did notice when I was putting the front panel on the card base that I really liked what it looked like from the back of the white cardstock, so I will be playing with that later :)

PTI SAF Tie Die Challenge!

Yay! I finally have all the SAF challenges done! At least one thing per challenge, although I'm sure i'll go back to a lot of them later & use more of the great ideas!
My daughter, Shelby, and I actually did all 3 of the Tie Die techniques! I even did the whip cream (as Shelby calls it!) aka shaving cream technique twice!

I'm going to start with my very favorite of the 4 I did! I don't have any of the PTI ink refills yet, so for this one I used Distress Ink reinkers with PTI stamp & paper:

Is that cool or what!? I am really loving this technique and will be doing it a lot more! My next PTI order I will be getting refills in lots of colors so I can match with all my paper/felt/ribbon!
I just loved this background so much, I didn't want to put lots on top of it so I just used a simple sentiment in black.

PTI Make It Monday #75: Roll the Die Challenge

This week's Make It Monday is a fun one! It's kind of similar to a tic tac toe challenge, where you have to use a certain list of items. For this challenge you need to write lists of stamps, colors, embellishments as well as a group of sketches & vertical/horizontal.

For my card, this is what I rolled:
Direction: Vertical
Layout: Sketch #3
Stamp Set: Tremendous Treats Birthday
Supporting Stamp Set: Movers & Shakers Sentiments
Color Combo: Aqua Mist/Orange Zest/Dark Chocolate/Harvest Gold
Embellishments: Ribbon

Here's my finished card:

I kept it pretty simple by leaving the colors of cardstock plain so it actually was a fairly quick card!
I colored the Lion with copics and popped him & the other brown dots up with foam tape.
Tomorrow my daughter is gonna do one for fun with her own rolls & I will use the sheet again- it's a lot of fun!

PTI SAF Handmade Embellishment Challenge!

I'm working on all the tie-die techniques (fun!) with my daughter today (our papers are drying as I type!) so i'll post that challenge later tonight, the last challenge I completed yesterday was the Handmade Embellishment challenge. I chose to do a 3d butterfly, but used kraft for all the layers and stamped different backgrounds on each in black. I really loved the way the patterns looked! I really looks like store-bought kraft/black patterned papers!
I'll for sure be doing lots of the other embellies later, but this was the one I did so far:

Love it!

PTI SAF Card Set Challenge!

Such awesome examples for this challenge by the DT! I'm super excited to go back and look at every video and make lots of different versions!
I decided to make a simple card set to give to my Mom using the Celebrations set and some bitty dot papers.

I packaged them in a simple white lunch bag that I stapled with my tiny attacher and added a little banner to match the cards with the left over ends of patterned paper.

PTI SAF Friendship Bracelet challenge!

My daughter and I love to make fun stuff with beads at home, so I was excited to try the new PTI paper bead papers and die!
I made a bunch of beads the day before stamp-a-faire so they would have good drying time.
I also made these *cute* little charms with the SAF logo and tiny bottlecaps that I gave all the girls at our get together yesterday, so I used mine on my bracelet here:

Sorry, I took this pic with my phone yesterday, i'll get a better pic of the whole thing later :)
These beads are very fun to make and you can't get beads much cheaper than by using paper! I also got to trade for some of the yellow/pink papers yesterday (thanks Kim!) so I can make another version as well!

PTI SAF Limited Supply Challenge!

This was a fun challenge! I love seeing what, with the same supplies, people come up with!
There were lots of great cards for this challenge done at our get together!
Here's mine:

I used the large frame die from Ad Sence to cut out of my homemade patterned paper, than stamped the centiment on the card front and popped up the patterned layer over it with foam dots.

PTI SAF Mini Book Challenge!

Hello again! Back to post my second project finished yesterday, the mini book challenge! I just LOVE mini books! It's such a fun quick way to make a little book full of memories of one event!
Here's the book I did yesterday about our day at the lake:

I used an American Crafts 6x6 paper pad for all the patterened paper. I cut each page in kraft, than for each page, cut a different patterned paper with the Card Base-ics die and sliped a little picture in each one.
I also die cut & stamped some suns, flip flops and banners to use to embellish the inside (i'll share more pics later). For the cover I used a layerz die to cut a patterned paper that had the "beach day" already on it (SWEET!), than die cut & attached the year.
Heather was with us yesterday, so it was great for her to show me her binding technique in person which I did with that cute yellow/white twine!

PTI Stamp-A-Faire time!

Sooo excited! It's so awesome that this year PTI's stamp-a-faire is an online event so anyone can participate from any edge of the world!
And, I'm SUPER happy that I met some other Minnesota PTIers awhile ago on the forum when we had our first stamping get together & Chris (our host) decided to do it again for stamp-a-faire!
We had sooo much fun! Heather took iphone pics all day that she posted on the SAF chat thread & kept everyone up on what we were doing, it was quite the day! :) Thanks Heather!
And, another BIG THANK YOU to Chris for hosting and just being awesome!

Time to share some projects! Here's my make & take card:

I did the centers and tiny flowers in yellow instead, love it!

And here's my first challenge project, the ribbon techniques:
I used the butterfly die cuts and backed with lemon tart, melon berry & orange zest ribbons! I hand cut the little banner for my sentiment and added a little lemon tart button with twine.

Be back with challenge #2 soon!

Papertrey Ink: MIM #74 Stamping on Texture

Hello again! I'm sharing my Papertrey Ink MIM project for this week! This weeks challenge was to stamp on texture. Mainly, to use an embossed sheet and stamp over it so the ink would only hit the embossed parts. I decided to do 4 different sheets, all on kraft, but 4 different embossing folders and 4 different stamp sets.
For ink, I used black, Dark chocolate, kraft & white.

I was inspired by these cute krafty banners on a string that I saw awhile back. I love how it turned out and it was fun to play around! After using so many different sets, folders and inks, now I have some good ideas to use in the future! Thanks for stopping!

Paper Smooches Sparks: Shelby Style!

So, my daughter was stamping next to me while I was doing some of the cards today and decided she wanted to try the sketch, too! She ended up doing quite a few as well & they're adorable! She used glitters, flock, you name it!

This "thumbs up" one's my favorite! Perfect stamping and those glittered nails are the best!

Thanks for stopping back to see Shelby's projects!

Paper Smooches Sparks: Card 5

And my last card, my favorite! I just love how this turned out! I used the dotted lines stamp from Alphadot to do the sunrays coming over the hill. I stamped the cow from Green Acres on 3 different papers and colored & cut out.
I used the same dots to make the tag match the sunrays.

Love! :) I really love how the tag on the bottom matches the top and those adorable cows! The cows were stamped on white, tan & brown papers and spots colored with copics & fussy cut. The king of the hill cow has a googly eye just for fun!

Paper Smooches Sparks: Card 4

For the next card, I figured since I did the "Talk Techie to Me" card, I should go old school and use the original "Talk Dirty to Me" too!

Love this! Makes me giggle :)

Kelly

Paper Smooches Sparks: Card 3

Here's the next:

Ok, I just couldn't resist this one! :) I just grabbed the Alphadot set and couldn't wait to use my own sentiment "Talk Techie to me" with this great new set!

Here's my 2nd card:

This one was inspired by my 7 year old son who always talks about gong to New York City!

Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge: Designer Drafts

Hello! Ok, before I explain my story, here's the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge for the week: Designer Drafts

When I first saw this sketch, I thought, " What the heck am I gonna do with that!?". But that's why it's called a challenge, right? :) Than I thought of all the ideas using the curve for a circle or the left side as a trunk (a tree, branch- a planet, ball, ect...) but I saw other talented gals quickly using some of those ideas so I decided to sit on it for awhile.
While, when I finally started to play around with it yesterday...I couldn't stop! I mean, seriously. Since yesterday I have made 5 cards using this sketch and while my daughter was stamping beside me today, she joined in and made a few of her own!
So, here is the first of the 5 and I will have the others in posts to follow, along with a post with Shelby's creations! :)
